Tiong Bahru Estate is one that is carefully conserved by the Urban Redevelopment Authority in Singapore. There are many restrictions and efforts to maintain its original facade of the buildings, from windows to shopfronts. This neighbourhood has been gentrified and houses many hipster cafes and restaurants. One shop that has survived through times is Ah Chiang’s Porridge featured in this drawing. It is also my family's Sunday hangout!
